UN FIBC Bag

UN bags are special type of FIBCs are designed to comply with the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of dangerous Goods, known as the “Orange Book”. These FIBCs are used for transportation of dangerous Goods like chemicals fertilizers and compounds. The UN bags are designed and tested in accordance with the recommendations laid down in the “United Nations Recommendation on the Transportation of Dangerous Goods.

  • International transport of dangerous goods in Bulk Bags regulated by a number of international codes based on the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (also known as the Orange Book).
  • Bags used for packing hazardous goods can only be made after obtaining a UN Certificate issued by an authorised and notified laboratory.
  • Each UN Bag should carry the UN-Symbol mentioned in the below table which shall imply the hazard level of the product (insert table).
  • This divides bulk containers into 6 categories namely: metal, flexible, rigid plastics, composite, fibreboard and wooden.
  • UN Bags are also classified according to the Hazard level of goods they carry.
  • There are four types of FIBCs made from woven polypropylene for dangerous goods:-
  1. 13 H 1 – Woven plastics without coating and without a liner.
  2. 13 H 2 – Woven plastics, coated and without a liner.
  3. 13 H 3 – Woven plastics, uncoated and with liner.
  4. 13 H 4 – Woven plastics, coated and with liner.
